Social
Narrative
Poetry

In a totally encompassing private universe, individual experience manifests tendencies toward unify, difference, and harmony; poets who advocate a tendency REcreate a world - its possibilities, facts, its traditions - and lend structure to society. A social poet reports individual observation in order to change society, tendencies, the world, our perceived universe.

Plot, essential to traditional western literature, is often implied in other literature. Narrative poems - in meter, rhyme, and rhythm - mimic conversational tone (exceptions have been made); submit poems with wit and humor, whose turns, reversals, and recognitions are evocative, informative, rich with meanings; the confessional (about "me") should nonetheless be about all of us - "I" is a persona rather than a private self whose "poem" is a biographical diary entry.

"Poetry" in form and structure changes over time; poets know what poetry is; they know its traditions and know when and how to deviate effectively
