WENDY L. HAMMOND
Just Dance

poetry is dance to me
-you just dance

as if space is a lover
it moves with you
covers
then exposes
in one breath

the way a dress sways
sprays her scent in a mist
around the room

soft waves of light
make half moons on the wall

as the rise and fall of sound
and movement
glide with rhythm, fancy feet

comes now verse
asks to dance

like when first
lovers meet
unencumbered
chemistry

- like poetry
- you just dance
