ELIZABETH KRONOFF
The Flower in Spring

Tangerine and lime she lies
languid under tree limbs low,
drawing suitors, but she lies
when she orders them to go.
Flourishing, by her free will,
throwing shoulders back, she blooms.
Nonetheless she wonders, will
she be left when winter looms?
