translated from the Hebrew by Lami.

An aporia of common yet unique event. Like a Chinese ivory carving of a globe within a globe ... to infinity, we have a second puzzle, that relationship with "Mother" - so human and enigmatic.

YEHUDITH KAFRI
MOTHER

I feel like wearing
Shorts,
And a crazy shirt,
And to go around barefoot and with uncombed hair
In the light of May which delineates my body.
Like that little girl
That Sarah the nurse-maid said to her viciously:
"The apple
Doesn't fall far
From the tree".
The tree,
The broken tree -

My mother.
