PoetryRepairShop 01.05:058 presents Song of my Lover by MICHAEL REHLING
Robert Bly says "leap". Beats did it. Freud or Jung started it. Credit James Joyce with inventing it. "Stream of Consciousness." In poetry, it is difficult to define: each word or phrase juxtaposed/next to/associated with another word or phrase becomes a connection for readers to puzzle, and every reader hears something different. Look closely. Michael Rehling isn't just doing stream of consciousness; good poets control "random" words and phrases. Rehling controls with Love, Music, Travel. Three forms of motion influence how far afield we may interpret the puzzle before slipping into "opinion".

MICHAEL REHLING
Song of my Lover

scat singing talker
fast
unconnected thoughts
reeling toward
highways mental
(places in
landscapes
uncontrolled)
no signs on this
roadway

but
heart talking

i hear
tenderness
(amongst noise
in my stringed
psyche)
playing along
with our loves tune
