itssy bitssy spider

she always knew
they were there
but she loved death
too much
she weaved its blanket
like a pro
and as death got bigger
and
larger
she grew
as her neighbors scratched
their voices growing
from peeps to 
cackling sounds 
amongst all this rust.
For a long time
she came
and went 
unnoticed
killing everything
that invaded her home.
One morning a cocky Bantam came
noticed her hour-
glass design 
and madness filled his eyes
he killed her with just his pecker.
Some hens call him a murderer
others say 
she was the one 
who commited 
spidercide
for just being there
in that chicken yard insanity.
Now
all that remains
is the wicked web
she weaved.

Aging Baby-Boomer,
Intrepid warrior,
Child of the 60's,
Rebel extraordinaire,
I gave the Establishment
The naked finger...
I fought its pig-headed
Conservative stubbornness...
I made a difference;
I was plugged in
To the generation
Of flower power
And free love.
Thirty years later,
Urged to submit
To a prostate exam,
Turnabout is
Fair play.
It's time to 
Get plugged
By the vile
Establishment,
And a latex-
Covered
Finger.
