Night Wind

The day rises and sets
A gale blows out the sun
And swims to drown the stars
All night the wind tugs
At my white netted bed
While a thousand stars hold back
The sea of air.
The net whips and plays,
A white stork swimming
A winged brief message
To a thousand centuries of light
Day grounds it. The stars
Return to their worlds
While the wind whipped back
Sulks like a scolded child.

Orange Stein

An orange is an orange is a mandarin is a tangerine
Is a nimbu making sour faces
Sharp as a knife sliced
Teeth set on edge on a wall, salted
With an edge of cut glass and a slide of pepper
To sandpaper the sun on with a sliver of saliva,
Squeezed nervously spits seeds in self-defense
Like a blood moon like a sun like glass sliced
