China
China sat and looked pretty Her beauty so becoming Her delicate pattern Her cup full of hope Always overflowing She paints the daisies yellow Always yellow splashed on blue With little specks of green To symbolize something new And a few faint curly q's Along the wave of her rim She's been chipped And bruised by him I see it in The fading color Of her eyes She folds her fragile hands Her stomach tied in knots And tries to wipe the spots off The petals of a rhyme She never forgot— He loves me? He loves me not. She shines and sits so pretty

A Dangerous Lullaby
Melancholy midnight Drifting through A blue room, the mood Of the song Soft and moaning I am composing A long night, broken light Inching its way Over piles of poems Over miles of heartache There is no faking it When I'm overflowing I never wrote a thing Without knowing where I had to go, —to get it Into the core of love With no resistance Into the hole in the wall The depths of A lonely darkness Tonight the music Is my essence, like a mist My breathlessness Exposed because There is no where to hide When extremities collide In a blue room, the mood Of the song Soft and moaning Is a dangerous lullaby
