her poem 'Forfeit' suggests that accumulated information shields against personal failure.
Stanza 1 gives us information but we know almost nothing of the persona's life; stanza 2 defines the persona as a grandmother and homekeeper - formal attributes. KELLY WHITE moves from unfamiliar to familiar; but, we know nothing of the depths of persona. Perhaps the abrupt couplets demonstrate the truth behind personal relationships - dissolution, death, and disbelief.
BIO: A native of New Hampshire, White has been a
pediatrician in inner-city Philadelphia since 1980.
