a native of Louisiana, lived for several years in Montana and Nevada before returning home and currently lives in River Ridge, LA, near New Orleans. BIB His poems have appeared in South Dakota Review, Arkansas Review, Louisiana Review, Texas Review, Christian Science Monitor, Common Ground Review, and other journals.
an earthy poem, 'The Color of Clay' is a surprizingly beautiful poem about misuse and abuse of others. The darkness of two souls is mirrored in the darkness of the place where they first meet and the darkness of the room where their relatinship is consummated. But, the last line suggests that some good exists even in the darkest of souls. Visit poetryrepairs.com to search for fine advertising, fine arts, fine entertainment, media, philosophy of publishing, webrings, culture, the ubiquitous and silent literary critique, criticism, theory, and praxis. Here will be E books, commentary, education, in the plain language of essays, interviews, opinion, reviews and as ever that most treacherous language of poems, by poets whose poetry and prose demonstrates which international writers are writing the global creative community.

Gather with friends and recite poetry over food and wine, light candles in darkened places!

GARLAND STROTHER
Color of Clay

Skin the color of clay,
she said he could have that
for an easy ten,
wait outside I'll be there.
In the dust-filtered light
of a one-room, tagged apartment,
blinds closed to hide themselves,
he saw with night-raven clarity
the truth of her beautiful blended shape
the small, softly rounding curve
of someone else's child.
First time away from home
and barely older than she was,
he knew the choices he could make,
the rules of guilt he'd been taught,
and hoping he was right
for both of them, loved her
there in the shared darkness
better than he knew how.
