| ---copyright MARTIN JERVISMARTIN JERVIS Emilia Romagna Your light shines towards me out of the blackness of trees. Paths that wind up veined earth are bed hidden by deeper cloaks cast across fine yellow snaking twist necks on headed bone like a corpse of windowless stone. The pheasant tracks alive by day voice dead by summon of night cool raucous calls down throat swallows in a lost dry echo of dark green baize devouring a comb of resting places. It is a night full of cicada groans Moth flappings that dry brush skin cigar flickings meandering on stubs in living light arrows to a concrete path splutter and spark the war cast shells explode a crack to blast rising light in a flash of temporary madness. Widely published Leeds UK poet MARTIN JERVIS has had h-s poetry in in Blue Fifth Review (US), Perigee (US), The Black Rose, and Jones Av. | TRINA STOLEC Dance With Me We'll dance across a desert of eroded footprints suspended above an oubliette chasm. Ballet leaps on magic sand barely wide enough for a foot. We'll take off before our steps fall to impale on stone spikes in the dark below. The air will sweeten when we brush midair, land apart, launch again. Laughter will bounce granite when we nearly miss each other, the next landing strip. Stone and air will speak, but the only question still between us is whether you'll hold my hand when we fall. ---copyright TRINA STOLEC --- previously published on poetryREpairs 01.01:009 "My poetry has appeared in about 43 print/web zines, and I've performed at several places around Toledo over the last several years. I am a member of the rock/spoken word band Logic Alley, whose first CD was released in January, and co-operator of Minstrel Soup Artist's Coalition. 'all the fine arts are species of poetry' |
