LISA M CRONKHITE
As If You are a God
Judge me as if you're a god in the skies, pretending
to be above me. You hover over my thoughts'"
a dark cloud traveling with my every move'"
a dying shadow nailed to my hands and feet.
Your earthly offspring conceived of a polluted
womb , molded me to a black future, for I have
no presence in your life. Condemn me in this world
with your hollow eyes, sending me through
a jackknife mind, slitting hatred in my veins.
I will endure the wrath you infected me with.
But know this. You will never sabotage the unborn
child within this injured heart.
