IN THE LIGHT OF THE SLEEPY MOON


blue heron looks
for her gone nest
		
ONE MAN WAS HOLDING HIS FATHER'S HAND AND THE WATER SUCKED HIS SKIN FROM HIM

it was too strong, 
I couldn't hold on
Roof tiles crumble 
like lives. Damage 
is speechless. Some 
can't bare to see
TV or see the lists
of people missing
one many says
it is wave after wave,
that it feels like he
is on a roller coaster
the news freezes his heart

ONE ELDERLY DANCE TEACHER WHOSE HOME WAS SPARED
took in four orphaned children. Neighbors begged her to open her school but she said she could not. some of her students died, other remain missing. She says she often feels it would have been better if she'd been swept away with hundreds of others in this area. I'm only doing what anyone else would do. These children need to be cared for, so I don't understand why anyone thinks I am doing any thing special

ONE MAN REFUSES TO LOOK AT THE PORT THE SEA'S GULPED
he'll glance at the sea rarely, just a glimpse "at first I was so depressed I didn't even want to think about work, couldn't imagine returning to look for mackerel, crab and squid. I'm determined to do something he says but the coast, it's so hard to accept what has happened. "The gods of the sea are angry"
