SUE LITTLETON
The Battle of Eylau, February 8,1807
[Inspired by the opening scenes of the French film "Colonel Chabert," directed by Yves Angelo (To be read while listening to the music Angelo used for background in these scenes, Beethoven's "Ghost" trio.)
The quiet, blue-shadowed field of Russian snow extends as far as the eye can see; white, white, obscenely puddled, spattered, streaked with red. Spoked wheels of destroyed gun carriages tilt against the horizon; here a single wheel, there a pair. In the distance fires glow dully against a sky heavy with clouds fashioned from smoke. Human debris is everywhere. Muskets with fitted bayonets lie ignored beside the mute, contorted corpses of their owners; here is one still clutched tightly in a frozen hand. In the foreground sabers, cavalry lances... the stiffening belly-up body of a horse.   The uniformed dead lie twisted and broken, dark blue woolen jackets, white doeskin pants pale against paler snow, black boots, plumed shakos. (These were the officers and soldiers of Napoleon's cavalry; they were the victors today.)   Ragged mulaks move slowly amidst the residue of war, strPping the dead, dragging the denuded corpses to a wooden shed for burial in a mass grave. Wearily they pile the remaining weapons, the garments, into great heaps,             for use in the next battle.   A young boy, no older than sixteen, blond curls tousled, lies with a face of marble innocence. His eyes open briefly, bluer than suCcer skies, gaze unfocussed as the mulak pulls back the stiff jacket collar                         of his uniform to expose the fatal throat wound.   Head down, a horse stand patiently in the cold, waiting for a dead hand to take its reins.   The Battle of Eylau is over.   Eylau.  Ypres .  Verdun .  Normandy .  Pork Chop Hill.             Tet Offensive. The battlefields are different,             the wars have different names. The countries, the years range wide— only the useless, arrogant deaths,             the dark arterial blood,                         the women's bitter tears remain unchanged.

TEN EROTIC HAIKU VERSES
Two on the Beach Use the moments Of the shelter of the night. I am waiting for a new day caressing the hips of a divine blonde. I am touching the dearest hills, valleys - her breast. Beautiful breast moving clockwise. She is a fire. In ecstasy She tells vulgarities. She rides and dances Tanned beauty on my body. I heaved a sight after having touched her dewy bud. Lazy sea gulls wait for autumn, We are sighing. After flood of the most intensive emotions -sweaty bodies. The night doll has faded away with arrival of the summer morning.

DESET EROTICHNIH HAIKUJEV
Par na plazhi izrablja trenutke v okrilju nochi. Chakam novega dne, ljubkujoch boke zanosne plavolaske. Z roko sem prijel najljubshe hribe, doline - njene obline. Prekrasne prsi se vrtijo v smeri kazalca na uri. Ona je ogenj. V ekstazi govori prostashke besede. Jaha in pleshe zagorela lepotica na mojem telesu. Zavzdihnil sem ob dotiku njenega rosnega popka. Chakajo jesen lenobni galebi, midva vzdihujeva. Po poplavi najmochnejshih chustev - znojni telesi. Nochna lutka je zbledela s prihodom poletnega jutra. Iz hrv. prev.
