LAURA CLOSE
Tractor
The next-door neighbor has a tractor. Recent events turn and results in the next attention-grabbing scene or happening. The riding lawn mowers attract my son who is only two.  He climbs into the seat but he cannot operate such a machine which would be quite a danger. Receptacles are also his particular fascination.  An excursion into the countryside would be nice.

CARMELA TAL BARON
Two Poems (translated with Ted Higgs)
All The Lines All the lines will be Now, too thin or heavy, too skewed or too straight, for this portrait of you. But when the fledgling feels her spring wings returning, Then I'll have the lines that it takes to draw the marvelous for this portrait of yours. Without Meaning Gently the sea with soft lace lips touches the body of the sand -- kisses and returns, kisses and returns --to the body of the sand The light shifts in a mosaic of tones and a little crab leaps into the purple light and sings: This always happens to me it always happen when the sun is setting down .
Translated from the Hebrew, T e d H i g g s et alia, 1985

YVONNE MORRIS
Spanish Music
Again, your sweet, Spanish music kisses begin tenderly violet on my mouth and breed dark rubies on my neck, fallen seeds of warm stone pressed on my skin, a garden of fired sand. Your hands are a sanctuary from doubt, opening a voice in my deaf soul, making melodies in all my known and secret places. Your touch, like an insistent rain, wakes the waves and springs the fountain's wings and blue fields. And rising from a lake of diamonds, every particle of me, every note, sings again on your lips.
