VERNON WARING
Debut
My baby's born a blank page at first, no words graze his pale bloated belly fresh from a nap, he giggles mindlessly as computer keys tickle him rudely, their dark impressions clumped just above his knotted navel he will not mind as I fold him neatly in thirds, slip him into a number ten envelope, drop him in a mailbox, en route to an editor whose judgment will not be clouded by flesh and blood or pride and joy

MICHAEL DAVID COFFEY
Shady Night
Light in a multitude of rainbow showers Catches the moist, sweet air Perfume carried through the window From a ruby red rose Sweetens the air Night falls on the lace of your lingering presence Kissing the radiance of your softness In a sighing embrace of desire Light lost from the sky enters the room And we are alone in our world Enjoying the rapture of warm remembrance Coiled around each other in discovery Night embraces the shades of our thoughts Our compulsion for love Captured in the perfume of caresses So we meet the shady night In love

RICHARD ALAN BUNCH Power Lunch
The needle-nose croc lies still as a small turtle basks almost within a snapping jaw's reach. There is no hint of turtle on the menu. In less time than it takes to recall one's ancestral guardians, or harbor ancient secrets in still water, or to fertilize an egg, lunch is served.
