Tawdrier clothes you couldn't have found. Receptive to criticism, the fashion designer amazed her critics with spectacular models. Unbearable heat, made her designs hotter, more florescent, but the models really amplified simplistic seams and sleeves.

MARTINA REISZ NEWBERRY
Either Way
I've waited the long  daylight hours in summer's heat  and the cold fall days  marked with dusk from sunrise on.   My arms and fingers  ache with waiting and my eyes  water and drip rain fall with the black clouds of  “no”  and “not at this time,” and “not for us.” The fig tree  drops yellow lace leaves onto  the patio, so  certain that May means fat green  fruit, the infinite  promises of ongoing  life.  I've waited with and without patience, knowing  I have not lied in  my poems and, in that knowing,  found no sweet release.   I'm tired.  The times of  waiting have cannibalized  my self respect, set  my zeal to rest underground  with a headstone that  reads, wait no more. It's an unattractive trait. If a legacy is what  I've craved, then there is  no reason to wait any  longer.  We start legacies  on our second day  in the world.  The harpies  shriek and tell of the fathoms  between letters and  love and wise women know that  time puts a stop to  everything we hold dear.  That  must be the end tale,  I think:  you either get wise  or you don't.  Either way, you die.
