DAVID JAMES Redemption NotYou wander out in the back forty and stare into a night sky puking stars out like a 15-year old after drinking his first pint of scotch. There is no compassion, only sadness for the years to come. The edges of your world are spiked down and going nowhere. The owls watch you kneel and pretend to pray, muttering about mercy, about another chance, about the life you wanted. The words are meaningless. One owl shrieks, fluttering into the woods. You're lost there in a trance, dropping the loose change from your heart into the wet grass. The stars see it all. And even as night hovers, licking your open wounds, it can't heal a past that's torn apart. poetryrepairs #207 14.12:140
