AGUSTIN MEDINA
Lovers and Words

They made love only through poetry He would recite to her the most exquisite lines in a most delicious way Tender, erotic, brimming with passion She could only be penetrated by his words He was a virtuoso of the act, consummately skilled She supremely fulfilled as a vessel of his words She was most stimulated by sonnets, but madrigals could elicit tingling in her fingertips, and terza rima made her moan With each verbal thrust She would cry in delight as his stanzas poured forth They engaged their trysts in cafes and restaurants or any other place that inspired the urge to read The rest of the world fell away as he opened his volume The smoothness of his well- modulated voice provided foreplay caresses came in light verse, kisses in velvety quatrains The verses carried on his golden tones inexorably led to a rapturous conclusion He would read her poetry several times a day She never refused a reading

AGUSTIN MEDINA
Steeped in Imagination

In my imagination I paint like Picasso I am a lord of language I write weighty tomes I speak fluent Coptic though with limited chances for conversation I eat crème puffs and cheesecake that do not contain calories I hear voices as only a chosen one can As a violinist I am without peer Musical aficionados have wept at my Mendelssohn I can fall from mountains and land as gentle as rain If civil strife breaks out I cannot be bothered My lovers are faithful happy that I have so much choice I am on the verge of locating Noah’s Ark I say that without exaggeration I am on the cusp of learning the secrets of black holes near to finalizing the mathematics of dark matter Why just the other day the event horizon came within my view I accept with humbleness that people each day await my awakening to enhance their lives And I’m very certain that I’m not someone else If I have any fault it is that I rely too much on my imagination
