Is Spring Over Yet? Please Say YES!
As our years increase
Our days grow longer and our nights grow shorter
until we find ourselves
greeting the dawn accompanied by citybird song
in the veriest AM.
There is a sort of songbird here
that tunes his six-note fall
of none too melodic pipes at four AM
and continues to serenade the neighborhood
until dusk.
At least there is a certain melodic effect – he tries!
Indeed, he does.
For several months, anticipating Spring,
I awake remembering Kipling and “On the Road to Mandalay.”
You know, where “the dawn comes up like thunder” –
only it is not “outer China cross the bay,”
it is the echoing thunder of thousands and thousands
of fat city pigeons and little grey doves
shaking the city’s sprawl, rivaling the traffic sounds
with thundering coos.
In Buenos Aires, our dawn
also comes up like thunder, whether we like it...
or not.

The implication of Duotrope's notice concerning poetryrepairs is by omission incorrect:
Duotrope - poetryREpairs
"This listing has been removed. Publication details and submission statistics for this project are no longer available through our site"".
The "removal" was the request of poetryrepairs as we felt that Duotrope was ripping off poets by offering 1. what other directories offered for no charge;
and, 2., offering data which is created by the poets themselves (i.e. report time, percentage of acceptances, etc.) $50 US is a lot of money per annum for struggling poets.
When the charge was put into effect, poetryrepairs requested that poetryrepairs be removed. The implication that Duotrope found poetryrepairs in some way problematic is an error of
omission. Of course, once Duotrope got in the business of overcharging poets, falsehood by omission is no great leap; There are similar directories online that don't
charge for the information which others generate. Poetryrepairs cannot in good conscience support or participate in Duotrope. We hope other outlets for poetry will join
our boycott of Duotrope. We ASK TO BE REMOVED from Duotrope.
