FERNANDO ESTEBAN FLORES
Chapter Fifty-three

The body of evidence irrefutable A crime of poetry no doubt The page stained with distinctive marks Glaring cherry red lipstick pressed Into the fabric of the paper Here: a smear of cheap mascara A tear or two perhaps Who can say how one will react To such a note Perfume scented sheets Something gaudy like Red Sin To mask the trashy perp Notebook: open on the table The last lines fragments Really not much art Words gone wrong perhaps A case of faulty lyrics Definitely out of sync Lucky to have gone this far With so little skill in any case Love kills what it wants Half moon sheds no light Predator on the prowl Dark day’s night Assess the marks Analyze the facts Read between the lines ©2016 Fernando Esteban Flores

FERNANDO ESTEBAN FLORES
Chapter One hundred twenty-eight

Plays its visual pun I find myself Stuck on stop On standup bass someone Plucks the notes Right off the page The violin weaving A sonnet of untranslatable want That will not be confined To fourteen dismal lines Or meter’s prison locks I want to dash reality To bits break out of feeling Sorted out beat to a pulp Fiction not all that irreal I was in debt to art before I fell in love with words The images always told Of things to come But I understood the past To better read the present & found Desire makes you ruthless Leaves you defenseless It’s good to break Memory’s gridlock ramp; run the risk of living

Chapter One hundred twenty-eight feom Dreaming in Noir ©2016 published with permission of the poet. Poet's note: the trigger for this poem is Man Ray's photograph titled: Le Violon d' Ingres which is a visual pun in itself. Man Ray was best know for his contributions to the Surrealist movement. This poem is a reaction & response to that. '
