HERLINDA VEKEMANS
Demonstrative pronoun

You took Gogol by the nose, you found ears in Chekhov, Fjodor, Michail, Aleksander, Anna, Marina, Jevgeni, You looked all of them in the eye. I read what you read, and read and hear all in one, everything everywhere. I wake up with words, hang on, wait, not too fast , where, my pen, and how, and am I really up to this?

HERLINDA VEKEMANS
Continuous form

Petrograd, 1919
Beethoven’s ninth freezes onto the ships. The fleet sails with a frozen ode. Majakovski demands pianos: Drag them out of the houses! Into the streets and the factories! The academy of music is waiting: the soup will be arriving any minute now. Keyboards scorch tingling fingers. Angels on the ceiling prophesy: the boy will be broken down into multiple voices. And the cold keeps on ringing.
