MARC
LIVANOS
Mobile's Battle House

MARC LIVANOS The Battle House of 1852, with its immense Parthenon columns, is full of ecclesiastical gaudiness, ostentatious grandstanding and arrogance. Its ancient rooms, home to Stephen Douglas, Jefferson Davis and Millard Fillmore, teach you something about creating eternity on earth. A prevailing sense of largesse, like Central Park's billionaire's row, reigns with pompous paintings and fragile furniture, not nostalgic possessions. This self-contained world, is surrounded by pagodas and protruding balconies that slam against the skyline proclaiming this House battles all.

MARC LIVANOS
Aunt Tina

Her hair, once brown, is fading. Her frame, never tall, is ever more slender. Her face, forever happy, radiates acceptance. Her eyes always twinkle. Like a special gift, Auntie is one of a kind living in her own unrequited selfless world. At home, her sonís wife is blind to his motherís needs. Itís just about them, taking without caring. She gave her home, living in the basement. She gave her car, taking the bus. They never return calls. Donít even pretend. Never appreciating, just criticizing. She says itís no use letting it upset her, as it becomes an acid eating at her insides. Instead, she gets out of that place with some cheerful words here and sympathetic nods there.
